Annita Demetriou, leading the Greek Cypriot Democratic Rally (DISY) and serving as the Chairwoman of the House of Representatives, undertook a visit to the Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Centre (CPDC) on Wednesday 7 February 2024.

Annita Demetriou, the President of the Democratic Rally (DISY) and also the Speaker of the House of Representatives paid a visit to Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Centre (CPDC).

Accompanied by Xenia Constantinou, Deputy Spokeswoman of the DISY and Charalampos Stavrides, the head of the Cyprus Issue Office, Demetriou held a meeting with CPDC headed by Meltem Onurkan Samani.

This visit was aimed at gaining a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics, needs, and concerns of the Turkish Cypriot community, with a particular focus on their aspirations and apprehensions about the new peace process.

Underlining the urgent necessity of a solution, Demetriou and Onurkan-Samani exchanged views on enhancing dialogue and collaboration, especially for finding ways to design a possible resumption of a renewed process in light of the appointment of UNSG’s personal envoy.

The activities of CPDC as well as the current state of play on both sides and the upcoming European Parliament elections were also discussed.

Both sides agreed to maintain further communication on regular basis.
